Job Purpose:

The Service Manager will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee all Service and Maintenance-related activities while demonstrating a commitment to excellence at all times. They will collaborate with Senior Management and contribute positively to the development of the team and the sales and profitability goals as determined by the organizational strategic plans. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic vision of the Service and Maintenance division to all team members
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws, while ensuring the company's adherence to those standards at all times
  • Work closely with the leadership team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, systems and follow through with their implementation
  • Perform regular meetings with all Managers and field teams as required
  • Delegate responsibility to other department team members and supervisors while providing guidance, direction and follow-up on performance to ensure that goals are met
  • Establish, monitor and track all Service and Maintenance KPI’s and report to Senior Management
  • Manage annual Service and Maintenance operational budget by reviewing compensation strategies and expenditures while analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions
  • Oversees maintenance and activities and performance of internal technicians and/or hired sub-contractors. Ensures work is completed on time, safely and meet quality requirements
  • Ensures all relevant documentations (i.e., maintenance inspections, equipment lists, equipment data, projects and PM contract files etc.) are captured and organized within our shared company file database
  • Prepare Service and Maintenance contracts, quote equipment replacement and repairs, monitor revenue forecast data and present to Senior Management as required
  • Collaborates with customer base stakeholders to evaluate and assist in capital asset replacements or upgrades and to make recommendations for maintenance, repair or replacement
  • Continuously seeks ways to gain greater efficiencies through activities such as recommending and implementing best practices, collaborating with internal teams to implement sustainable practices and improvement initiatives utilizing internal technicians wherever possible
  • Develop and implement a lesson-learned tracking process to document various Service and Maintenance experiences and adopt a proactive approach to avoid various problems in the future
  • Maintain and manage a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with key Customers and continuously create value for the client
  • Resolve customer service concerns quickly and professionally
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for customers and team members on all Service and Maintenance related concerns, product recommendations, work flows, equipment repair techniques and best practices
  • Maintain and promote a safe and clean work environment both on-site and in the office
  • Responsible to ensure the allocation, safety and security of all service-related vehicles and tools while developing tracking measures to ensure efficient management of shop inventory based on customer base, vehicle inventory control including company issued tool inventory management
  • Review all vendor pricing and rebates to ensure the organization is receiving best value

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years industry or technical experience would be a definite asset
  • Current holder of trades licenses is not required but would be a definite asset
  • G1, G2 or G3 Gas fitter license
  • 313-A Refrigeration license
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Experience with MS Office, Excel and Smartsheet’s would be a definite asset
  • Working knowledge of the construction and service industry including knowledge of TSSA and MOE would be a definite asset
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled at managing service delivery and meeting client obligations
  • Strong business development and leadership skills

  • Ability to lead and develop a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose root cause issues in a variety of commercial mechanical equipment
  • Ability to take initiative and display a positive and helpful demeanor with both customers and Team members
  • Ability to recognize opportunities that will maximize the financial performance of the department and business
